His ability to connect with people and problem-solve makes him a valuable part of both the office and field teams.Outside of work, Matt enjoys golfing, spending time with family, and staying active outdoors.

Rene

Rene is the CEO and Co-Owner of Blackstone Excavating. With a background spanning over 10 years in engineering, project management, and sales, Rene brings both technical expertise and strategic vision to the company. After many conversations about business and quality service, he partnered with John to launch Blackstone Excavating — offering professional, high-level site work solutions to clients across the region. He is a husband and father of three, and enjoys spending time with his church community and doing outdoor activities with his family.

Chris Hofmeister

Chris is a Field Superintendent at Blackstone, overseeing additions and new build projects. With over 20 years in the construction industry, he has hands-on experience in mold remediation, renovations, apartment maintenance, concrete, trim carpentry, landscaping, and full-scale builds from the ground up. He previously worked as a Construction Manager and is currently pursuing his builder’s license.He enjoys the challenge of navigating complex projects and bringing ideas to life. Outside of work, you’ll find him playing hockey or spending time outdoors with family, friends, and his dog — usually around a bonfire, pool, or lake.

Mike Lionas

Mike is the Chief Operating Officer of Blackstone Building Company. He began his career in the field as a framer before moving into operations and project management. With over 20 years of experience in the industry, Mike brings deep knowledge in both residential and commercial construction. He holds a degree in Construction Management from Michigan State University, and is licensed as a Michigan Builder and real estate agent. He is also NASCLA certified to obtain commercial contractor licensing in 16 reciprocating states.

Johnathan Peters

Johnathan is the President and Founder of Blackstone Building Company. Raised in a construction family, John developed an early love for site work and new builds. He got his start in the industry through custom home building and, after working with some of the area’s most respected builders, launched Blackstone to bring his vision to life. John has since expanded into custom commercial projects — including the St. Mary Magdalene Orthodox Church — where he brings luxury residential-level detail to commercial spaces. He is a husband, a father of one (with more on the way), and enjoys spending time outdoors with his family and church community.
